Hi Guys,

I have 2 .xlsx file that we want to merge but we're having problems doing this. Tried steps below:

1. used Move or Copy, Create a copy the move to end - no go
2. copy to new book:
File 1: used Move or Copy, new book1 - working
File 2: used Move or Copy, new book2 - working
Merge book1 and book2 - no go
3. saved to another file type for both then merge - no go

Reference
Cannot merge 2 excel file

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Hi
Have you tried using a query to merge the two sheets ?
Basically you create a data connection in a new workbook. You can point it to one of the two files.
Then you write a query that will fetch the data from the second file and merge them.

For example, you have as source data:
- Workbook1.xlsx with data inside sheet "Worksheet1"
- Workbook2.xlsx with data inside sheet "Worksheet1"

In a new workbook you go to Data Connection, Add, browse to Workbook1.xlsx. Click OK.
Then go to the Data ribbon, click on the "From existing Sources" button and select the data connection you created, and click "Properties".
In the data connection properties, definition data tab, you can write a query like this:
Select * from `C:\Workbook1.xlsx`.[Worksheet1$]
UNION ALL
Select * from `C:\Workbook2.xlsx`.[Worksheet1$]

You can replace the "UNION ALL" command based on your needs, but if you want to merge the data it should work.

The good thing is that you can refresh the data of the new workbook by just clicking "refresh" instead of "moving" or "copying" manually everytime you want to merge the data.

Is that what you need?

Both file has a LOT of sheets. We need to combine all sheets together in 1 file using Excel 2010.

We already used the ff. steps below:

1. used Move or Copy, Create a copy the move to end - no go
2. copy to new book:
File 1: used Move or Copy, new book1 - working
File 2: used Move or Copy, new book2 - working
Merge book1 and book2 - no go
3. saved to another file type for both then merge - no go
