What could be wrong if I click on a hyperlink to an ms-excel file and it just hung the browser?
But strangely, if I start-up the ms-excel app first then open the excel file link, it opens up nicely???

I'm running on NT4.0, IE6-SP1, EXCEL2000. Pardon me, if this topic doesn't belong here, all other file types works fine....

thanks!

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
I have the same problem with Window 2000 and Excel 2002 sometimes and put it down to (another) one of the mysteries of Windows. The workaround is to open Excel first!

i've done re-installation, patches, SPs, etc. i sure hope this tentative solution (open ms-excel 1st) won't become a permanent one.
i'll feel awkward tellin' the users that it's Microsoft's fault. well, it is....
