"Cannot open the clipboard" error

I got the above error when trying to copy an paste a small block of cells in excel.
Does anyone know why>?
It did allow me to paste the data where I wanted, but it popped up before I pasted and after it was pasted. My clipboard was previously empty.

Can i request why you say this?? Is Copy Paste Windows not Excel??? So the issue could be simply dirty memory cured by exit and re open excel or simple re boot, so a extream complex procedure...

YES i agree tmp files and so on could hang such, but can i suggest some simple ABC prior to investigate>>

Can you advise me why you opt to you methon when all we know is clipboar is playing about!!!
