Can't find project or library

Hi,

I have an Excel 2016 file that periodically has a problem.

On loading, it will say "can't find project or library" and I can't view the macros within it or check References in VBA (selecting references has no effect).

To fix it, I have to copy it to another computer with Excel, open and save it. Then it works again on the original computer.

I'm concerned that this fix will stop working at some point, beside it being annoying to move to and from another computer every other day.

Can anyone assist?

Thanks so much in advance.

:)

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
when you look at the vba on the machine that works, what version of excel, and what are the available references

when you open it on the offending machine and compile it, do the same refernces appear

Thanks for your reply mole999.

The machine that works is Excel 2010 but I think it also worked on a different Excel 2016 as well.

After fixing the file, I look at references on both the 2010 and 2016 and they look identical. Many libraries available in each and the same ones ticked in both.

I just tried compiling the vba and then looking at the references but it looked no different to the pre-compile state.

What are you thinking might be going on?

Thanks again.
