Okay, I could do with some help please with a small issue that I have and can't get to the bottom of.

When I try to insert a new column i get the message that data can't be moved of the end of the sheet.

When I do Ctrl End the cursor jumps to cell IV168, showing the last cell.

However even when I delete all the blank columns including col IV, i still get the same message. I have tried making sure no conditional formats exist etc

How can I find the source of this problem

Any ideas welcome

Thanks a lot

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Have you tried saving the sheet, closing and going back in after you've done the delete? Failing that, possibly try Edit>Clear>All rather than delete, saving, closing & going back in.

Best regards

Richard

Hi Airfix - I don't have any cell notes

Richard, I'll give that a try tomorrow at work - I haven't saved after deleting

Thanks for the suggestions

I have also found that if you have shaded the entire row & if the spreadsheet is large enough, that this will prevent more columns from being added. You will need to un-shade a few empty columns in order for you to add in columns.

The bad news is that sometimes when you delete on this page and have erased all of the extraneous shading from the empty columns, a new column appears in IV that has your original shading.
