Can't nudge objects downward

This is really just an annoyance... but I can 'nudge' objects using the left, right and up keys, but never downward with the down arrow! When I use the down arrow they don't move. I have to click and drag them further down than where I need them then nudge them up into place. I thought this was a bug with my Excel97 installation, but now that I've gone to ExcelXP the behaviour is the same. Is this normal?

What sort of items? I just created an autoshape, a text box and a spinner, and I could "nudge" them all in any direction using arrow keys. Excel 2000. Nothing wrong with you're keyboard, is there?

Wow, no activity since 2002 on this thread. Well I've been having the same problem, I couldn't nudge an Active Control Button left or down but only right and up. Turns out I had Freeze Panes turned on. Once I shut that off everything went back to normal and could nudge the object in any direction.
