I have Excel 2013.
When I group columns together, I don't see the "+" sign at the top to expand/collapse the grouping.

What's going on?

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
In the Advanced section of the Options, under the Display settings for the worksheet, is the option to display outline symbols unchecked? If so, check it.

Try this:
• Home.Excel_Options
...Advanced
...Display Options for this worksheet
......CHECK: Show outline symbols if an outline is applied

Does that help?

When I try to group the columns, I see a vertical line that's right above the first column signifying that the group was successful.

What I don't see is the + sign that should be above the last column being grouped.

Do you have the option to display all objects set for the workbook?
