I have a string (serv_str) = PL [SD] WD PT
Variable srvtext = "SD"

I can get the position (sp) of servtxt in the string serv_st using
Code:
sp = InStr(serv_str, srvtext)
sp = 5
I am looking for help finding a VBA solution that will return the character at sp-1, in this case, "["

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
How about
VBA Code:
Mid(serv_str,sp-1,1)
