I would like to format a bunch of cells with right alignment - but with an indent - like the Left (Indent) option. Is there a way to do this?

Excel Facts

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.

Go to Format, Cells, Alignment and in the drop down menu under Horizontal select Right (Indent)

No, he means select "Cells" from the Format menu. Then go to the alignment tab on the dialog box that will appear and use the dropdowns there.

Alternately, you can just right-click the cell you want and select "Format cells" (or even use just ctrl+1) to get to the same dialog.

I guess I'm completely confused - I think I'm doing what you suggest (ctrl +1) but in the Alignment Tab/Horizontal Drop-Down Box, I only have the following options:

General
Left (Indent)
Center
Right
Fill
Justify
Center Across Selection

I'm interested in a solution to this question as well, but like NextYearSox, I don't have Right (Indent) as an option - and if I select Right in the Horizontal dropdown, then enter a value under Indent, the justification snaps right back into Left.

Anyone?

What version of Excel are you using?

Try Format menu > cells > Number tab > custom then choose: _-* #,##0_-;-* #,##0_-;_-* "-"_-;_-@_-
or: _-* #,##0.00_-;-* #,##0.00_-;_-* "-"??_-;_-@_-

If those choices aren't available, try copying and pasting using Ctrl C and Ctrl V

I don't have such an option under the drop down menu :(

You are right, That option is version related. It is available in Excel 2003 but NOT available in Excel 2000. Not sure what version it first appeared in. I would suspect that the custom formatting suggested in one of the other answers is the way to go with earlier versions.
