How could I make a cell always be AM and another cell always be PM.

I.e. if I enter 4:00 in cell a2, it would always be 4:00 am, and if I enter 4:00 in a3, it would always be 4:00 pm

Thanks;

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
I think you would have to use a macro, using the Change event of the worksheet, to add 0.5 (Half a day) to the cell you decide to always be PM. AM wouldn't be a problem.

Just use the 24 hour clock, making sure your cells are formatted to display the time as 1:30. If you wanted to write 1:30 PM, you'd just type 13:30- the cell would automatically display 1:30 PM. Typing in 1:30 would show up as 1:30 AM.

Thanks folks. I tried adding .5, and when combinding it with a if statement, it worked like a charm. I wanted to use the 24 hour setup, but the people who will be filling this out couldn't understand how to do it.

Thanks again.
