Cell displays formula as text???

Hey all.

I have a spreadsheet that was sent to me from a client that has a row which will display EVERY formula I try and enter as text. The only way I've been able to get around it is delete the row and insert a new one.

Sometimes when I insert a new row it inserts ANOTHER row that only shows formulas as text.

I checked on the formatting with right-click and selected NORMAL.

Any ideas.

First things to check:

1) Make sure the cells are not formatted as text

2) Go to Tools\Options\View tab and make sure the box next to "Formulas" is NOT checked. (Alternately, you could just press Ctrl + ~ which toggles this on/off and see if they go away)

If a cell{s} are first formatted as Text, then have a formula entered and after that are switched to General they still need to be coerced into changing.

You can do so by either re-confirming the formula with Enter, or

highlight the cells to change

Click Edit | Replace

replace the = sign with itself
