I got a spreadsheet that had ODD formatting in which the GRID LINES would not display and the left side border would not display in this same cell. I tryed to reformat the cell and then the entire sheet without much sucess. The spreadsheet itself was very simple (used as a template for a electrical panel layout). Thanks

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple

Hi Lubinski:

So, are you saying you would like to have the Grid Lines show and you would like to see the left side border around a particular cell?

So that the Grid Lines would be displayed, did you check in the TOOLS|Options|View tab, Windows_Options -- the Gridlines CkeckBox is checked.

And to ensure that the left side border shows, please check what color line has been selected for that particular border line -- if it is set to white, then change it to Black, or another color of your choice.

I hope this helps. If I have misunderstood your question -- my apologies!

Thanks for the suggestion about the BORDER being 'white' vs. the default (automatic) black color. Unfortunately this is not the solution. The person that set up this simple form formated the cell so that the right and left side of the cell cover (hide) the grid lines I turned AND and the border I applied. This will bug me until I figure it out. Thanks for the assistance!
