cell not calculating

I have 2 cells in my sheet that will not calculate unless i click in formula bar then move to another cell

Any ideas why this is not working right?

formula is

=IF(NOW()<Y2," ",L10*8)

sorry whole formula did not show up on prior message

y2 is julian date for a date

Try using edit --> replace to replace all = with =

This usually happens if Excel *thinks* the cell is formatted as text (usually if the cell used to be text before the format was changed). The = with = trick circumvents that issue.

(P.S. Use code tags to show your formula. The board doesn't like some combinations of < and > signs because of the uses of those symbols in HTML)

weird

i click on another sheet in same workbook and come back to the problem sheet and it is ok
