:rolleyes: Well, I am new to this excel programming. I am producing a file that I can transfer the data to notepad so that this information can be put into a stress analysis program. Where I am stuck is this....I have a cell which contains a formula that spits out a certain number of titles, such as material, material, material,..........sometimes up to 56 times. Because the formula is only in one cell, the output takes up about 35 cells. What I would like to do is make this "answer" take up about 6 columns and multiple rows depending on how many I need. I have tried several things such as merging the columns and then wrapping the text, but when I copy this and put it into notepad, it is still just one "LONG" string of words. Help me please!! I really appreciate your help. If this question doesn't make too much since, please let me know and I'll try again. I definitely do not have the terminology down for coding....and I am definitely not a computer guru. THank you in advance. Here is an example....this is how I would like it to come out - in multiple rows.
& material, material, material, material, material, material, material, & material, material, material, material, material, material, material, & material, material, material, material, material, material, material, & material, material, material

This is how it comes out...
& material, material, material, material, material, material, material,. (in one long row).

Thank you again.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Just trying this again. Is there anyone that can help me out there with this work problem. I am limited in time, but just recently gave up on the books and just barely found this website. I'm searching now, but any online help would be great.

Thanks,
Heidi

Yeah, this is pretty much what I am looking for, however when I did this on my own excel file, it didn't work. It just left the cell blank. Any thoughts? Thank you!

=IF((ROW()-4)*6 +COLUMN() <=$B$2,$A$2,"")

Change with references to your cells that have what to repeat, and how many times to repeat.

Also, Because I started putting the formula in Row 4 I put -4, change it to whatever row you started in.

If you do not start off in Column 1, you will need to subtract some from the column.

Hope this helps.
