CF versus change macro / priority question

Hi all,

do I conclude correctly that conditional formatting formats overrule formats applied by a worksheet change macro?

If that's indeed the case is there a way to circumvent this, i.e. give the higher priority to the change macro? My excel version is 2003.

Thanks for any ideas,

Kind regards,

WD

You are correct that CF overrides Worksheet_Change. I think your best option would be to get rid of the CF completely and write all of your conditions into the VBA code. I’m not aware of any sensible way to override the CF unless you use your code to store the CF for the target cell in a location somewhere else and then delete the CF from the cell using:
Code:
Target.FormatConditions.Delete
You would have to then obviously put the CF formula back in the event that the coded condition was not true. This seems far too impractical!!
