Is it possible to change a cell a speadsheet without opening it and not just visible="False"? If so how do you do that?

Can Excel fill bagel flavors?
You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
I should have addressed that earlier, sorry. It is possible using ADO and similar approaches. In fact, IIRC, the files must be closed. For example, set up an ADO object and run SQL to UPDATE (amend) data or add new data with SELECT/INSERT INTO or APPEND. I'll post a link in a minute.

The method uses ADO.

I don't know about ADO.net.

DAO I think would be about equally simple (to ADO). I am unfamiliar with simpler methods.
