Hi there,

Does anyone know how to change a chart name in Excel?

When you create a new chart, Excel assigns a name: Chart xx (where xx is a number - seems like random numbering to me)

When you copy the worksheet containing charts, sometimes the charts are re-numbered in the new worksheet.

I would like to manually change the chart name from "Chart 1" to "My Chart" so I can reference the chart in VB.
(You can right click on a chart and select Chart Window ->on the top it shows the chart number)

Your help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Shan

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Hold down Ctrl and click the Chart. Overwrite what's in the Name box (to the left of the Formula Bar) and press Enter.

Thanks for a quick reply

After I have copied the worksheet, the chart in the original worksheet is still titled chart 5 (when I right click and select chart window) but the chart in the new worksheet is now called "My Chart" (as I have named it).

If I just copy the chart (not the entire worksheet) then the chart does not maintain it's name
