change date

Would anybody know how to change te date when you use the following the hotkeys: ctrl + ;

I get 25-3-2009 and I want to get 25-mrt (I am from the Netherlands).

Thanks for help!

Hello and welcome to MrExcel.

Format the cell as Custom dd-mmm (in English Excel, it might be different in Dutch). Then hit CTRL + ; then press Enter.

Thanks for your quick reply, but I had already tried that and that doesn't work.

It still gives the same output.
