Change formatting on new worksheet

Hi.

I am trying to change the default font and number format for new worksheets I create by right-clicking on the tabs at the bottom of the workbook, choosing insert and then selecting "worksheet" (all my other custom templates come up in this window too).

The help on Excel is scant, I have been into Excel options and changed the default font etc. but the font on the newly inserted worksheet remains unchanged.

I have looked for legacy default worksheets which I may have created in the past under older versions of Excel (I seem to remember things like Book.xlt or sheet.xlt and putting things in the XLSTART folder), but couldn't find anything untoward lurking anywhere.

I also tried to save and then apply a custom theme to the new (or any) worksheet and this did absolutely nothing either !

I just want Calibri as the default font and my own customised number format.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
That's great, thanks very much. It worked a treat.

If only that advice had appeared on Excel's own Help !
