CHANGING DEFAULT FORMAT OPTIONS

I have tried searching for this but have been unable to find an answer. Is it possible to change the default cell format options for cells in 2016 Excel?

Current: When selecting Number from the Home tab formatting options, the cell is shown as a number with no commas and no special formatting of negative numbers. ie: 31557.40 and -31557.40

Preferred: When selecting Number from the Home tab formatting options, the cell results in a number including commas and negative numbers are shown in parenthesis. ie: 31,557.40 and (31,557.40).

I know there are Currency and Accounting formats but other than opening the Format Cells window there is no quick/easy way to format numbers to include the commas and format negatives with parenthesis without including a $ sign.

Thanks for your reply! The only issue with this is that my spreadsheets/workbooks often contain amounts and text and the fields which include amounts is ever changing.
