Changing formulas into solid text

This will probably be a very basic question, but I dont actually know what I should be searching for, so easier to just ask.

How do I turn formulas into actual text, so when I copy them, and paste they will remain as what the formula returns?

IE

A1 = 1
B1 = 2
=sum(A1+B1)
Would show 3

I then want to somehow have the formula disappear, and just return the value of 3, so I can then delete the values from A1 and B1, and have 3 remain there.

Does this make sense?
People keep telling me this is pointless, but I keep coming across reasons why I want to do this.

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
Edit, Copy the cell that contains the formula '=sum(A1+B1)'.

And then, Edit, Paste Special..., values, and the formula will disappear, and the value of the formula will stay.

Have a great day,
Stan
