I work with a spreadsheet which designates location as a code (example: F044). I would like my spreadsheet to automatically change this code to a Proper Name (in the instance of F044 I would like it to automatically change to Findlay, OH)

I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone help?

Thank You,

Shelly

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand

Do you have a list of these codes and the proper name?

If you do then you could use a VLOOKUP worksheet function to return the proper name in another cell.

If you actually want it to change automatically in the cell you enter the code in then I think you would need to use VBA.

Welcome to the board!

Set up a two-column table with code in the first column and proper name in the second column.

Then, use =vlookup(a1, my_table,2,0)

Where A1 is the code you'd like to look up the name of, and my_table is the two-column table as described above.
