Hi

So I have a budget file that I would like to have showing as either 'Actual' or 'Forecast' based on a date

So in Cell D2 is =EOMONTH(TODAY(),-2)+1 giving me the prior months date, and I tend to always use the first day of the month.

Then in row 5 i have the formula

=IF(Summary[[#Headers],[Jan-21]]<=$B$2,"Actual","Forecast") but all months are coming up as Forecastl!!!

I have tried reversing the signs, but it just does not want to work!!!!

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Welcome to Mr Excel forum

Try
C5 and copy across
=IF(--C6<=$B$2,"Actual","Forecast")

The headers in a table are text, so, to compare them to a real date (a number in Excel) we need to convert to a real date, a number.
The operator -- does it.
