chart datasheet

This is my first time working with the chart function in ms access (2003), and i have the chart set up the way i want, however the data sheet and design view of the chart shows some "chart example" (east, west, north, and south) and not my data from the query it's linked to. How do i get the data from my query to populate the chart data sheet and design view of the chart?
