Chart "gray-out"

I've put an embedded chart on a sheet that I want to be visible all the time while working on the sheet. The problem is that when the chart is not selected, it "grays out" . This doesn't happen when I open a new book and put a chart on a page. Why is it doing it in my project, and how can I stop it? I can't find any settings for "visbility.

That happens when you have

Tools->Options->View->Objects->Show Placeholders

change to:

...->Show All

I just had the same thing happen to me...phew...I dont remember ever selecting that option and it does not seem to be the default...just wondering...
