Hi to everyone, trying to resize my chart in excel but most other buttons including the resizing height and width options are grayed out (on the format tab), need some insight from seniors to resolve this issue, tried from a while to get it work but couldn't reach any helpful result.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
It looks to me that you have the Chart on a Chart Sheet. This is a worksheet that only contains a chart.
As such it takes up the whole sheet and resizing doesn't make sense.

If this is unintentional, select the chart then in Chart Design move the chart back into a normal worksheet.

yes dear you're right I guess, if a page is assigned to a chart then it carries no meaning to reduce its size, but yesterday even I made an embedded chart, but still I find most of the style options were grayed out on the format tab, which was mind boggling. It's always very annoying and time-consuming for us to get headache from such small things which apparently doesn't look like a big issue. thanks for the support

Do you still have the embedded chart with the issue ?
One of the suggestions I saw was to remove the axis labels, resize the chart, then put the axis labels back.
That was on an earlier version of Excel though.

No, actually I'm doing a course certificate for excel where I encountered this problem, it wasn't a big hurdle and despite the issue I submitted my assignment successfully but was wary that I may face the same problem in future.
Will try this tip in future, merci🙏
