Chart - Shading multiple colors in plot area

I am trying to shade a plot area in multiple colors for a benchmarking exercise. I can insert shapes like I did in this picture, but I'd like to have the shading adjust automatically to changes in the graph scale (I'm doing 20+ graphs like this and have to update monthly, so I don't want to keep updating manual shapes).
