If the Y-value range in chart data contains blank cells, they don't get plotted (for example, a line chart just stops in thin air when the cells in the Y-range become blank). That's good.

If the Y-value range in chart data has a formula in it, and the formula places "" in the cell when it would otherwise be blank, then Excel plots this "" as a zero (the line chart now draws a steep line from the thin air point above, down to zero). That's not good.

How can I get around this? I think I'm looking for a "blank equivalent" so that I can put it in my formula: =IF(isblank(A1),"blank equivalent",A1).

But maybe there's some other way around it.

Thx, Bill
