I can no longer click on the check boxes in the Excel spreadsheet I have used for years. I can use the drop down menus but not check boxes or toggles. Was this caused by a Microsoft update? How do I fix this?

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.

I don't have that button on my toolbar. I am using Office 2016. This is a spreadsheet I developed years ago and have not changed any of the controls in several years. I have updated to a newer version several times and never had this problem until a couple of weeks ago.

I found the developer button and installed it in my toolbar. I can insert a new check box and I can check that, but the existing check boxes still don't work.

sorry,
maybe you need to redo it all with the new version!
