Check Number

I have a column that has check numbers. I go and use the ASAP utility to insert a 0 in front of the numbers it looks like it is doing something but then the check number does not show a zero in front of it. Please help

you probably need to set up a custom format.

select the range you need to format and press CTRL+1.

then select custom in the Categories box.

under where it says Type: put in enough zeros for the entire number you want to display

press ok...

You can use:

=0&A1

where A1 houses a check number.

The solutions above worked, but I have to have an additional column to my sheet in order for it to work. Is there any way I can do it without the extra column.

( 1.) Select all the cells of the extra column with the formula.
( 2.) Activate Edit|Copy.
( 3.) Activate Edit|Paste Special >Values.
( 4.) Delete the original column.
