Color condition in a Pivot chart

Excel Facts

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Santiago,
I think this is what you are after , if i have miss intrepreted
your thread , i apologise !!!! :)

Right click & select format either :
Format Gridlines.
Format Data Series.
Format Plot Area.
Depending where you "hovver" your mouse , you
can choose to colour all areas of your chart.

Hope this helps you out !

would anyone have any suggestions 'strategy wise' on how to go about selecting some columns and coloring them differently from the rest of the columns?

I have a set of data graphed, and some of the data may be organized in groups, so for instance I may want to highlight all of the columns corresponding to Group A, meanwhile leaving everything sorted in descending order of consumption for the whole population.

Right now I'm not doing this in a pivot chart, I have some macros to do it on regular charts. The problem is that I end up with so many different files and charts, it would be handy to have one chart and change it every time I need an update.
