I am using Microsoft Excel and cannot figure out how do you make the data in one cell have a certain color based on the data in another cell?

Excel Facts

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
Look at Conditional Formatting in Excel Help.

With conditional formatting I know how to make certain text a certain color but not based on data in another cell.

Post an example of what you want to accomplish.

Say cell A1=RC or A1=4mth

IF A1=RC THEN B1's data is a formula and the result needs to be red (not the cell the data needs to be written in red)
IF A1=4mth THEN B1's data is a formula and the result needs to be blue (not the cell the data needs to be written in blue)

I really appreciate the help.

Select cell B1 then go to your menu and choose Conditional Formatting/New Rule/Use a formula.
In the formula box enter:
Code:
=$A1="RC"
Then format the font to be red.
Repeat this process for 4mth:
Code:
=$A1="4mth"
Format font to be blue.
