As example, I have 4 columns (from Cell A1 to Cell D1) that store data as follows:

Macedonia 0 1 England

(Columns B and C are numerical)

I want to do a formula/function that will check which Column (B or C) have higher value - if B1 > C1, highlight Cell A1 with green background, if B1 < C1, highlight D1 with green background, if B1 = C1, highlight both A1 and D1 with yellow background.

Is that possible in Ms Excel ?
If not, any other software that have that ability ?

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Hi Allan,

You can do this with Conditional Formatting

1. Select values in Column B
2. Format > Conditional Formatting
3. Instead of Cell Value Is, change to Formula Is
In the formula bar, put =$B1>$C1
Click the Format button
On the Patterns tab, select green
OK
4. Back in the dialog, press Add.
5. This time, Formula Is =$B1=$C1
Change Pattern to yellow
OK
OK

Select Column C values, repeat and adjust formulas where required
