hi,
is it possible to colour fill a given amount of cells, eg. if a1 = 5 then the 5 cells below will change colour,
and if the number changes then the amount of highlighted cells changes

thanks

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.

Yes to both!

colour cell depending on value / condition = conditional formatting.

change value of cell depending on value / condition of another cell = appropriate formula.

Check out conditional formatting in the help & post back with more info on the details of what you are trying to do.

OK - but what are the conditions you want to implement? Please describe your data & the expected outcomes in a little more detial - no mind readers here!
