Colour multiple cells based on information in one cell

I recently used the following formula in conditional formatting to highlight a complete row if the cells in column AF were not blank:

=NOT(ISBLANK(AF18))

HOWEVER, i need a new formula to highlight columns A, B and C ONLY depending on the text input in column C (1 of 4 choices: NE, EE, SE or CE.

I would like columns A, B and C to highlight (for example):

Green if column C states NE
Blue if column C states EE
Yellow if column C states SE
Red if column C states CE

The conditional formatting would apply to A2:C500.
