Colouring cells dependent on an IF staement

I need to colour a list of cells differently depending on their content. I'm sure I've seen this done automatically before, but I'm not sure how.

Does anybody know?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type

Check format>conditional formating...

this will however, allow you to have only three conditions..
