Column Headers

Just recently a user was working on a excel document and he noticed that his column headers instead of being letters they turned into numbers. Every new Excel spreadsheet that he opened it continued this pattern. He had a few spread sheets that still had the letters format on the column headers that were open and on his desktop.

When the user saved and closed all his excel documents and restarted his machine. The column headers were returned to normal.

Has this ever happened to anyone? Is it a special key that makes this happen?

I am sorry Maybe I should have been specific. He is using Excel 2007.

In that case, I must defer, as I don't know on Excel 2007 (nor do I wish to learn)
