If cells A1:A26 contain the letters A thru Z, and up to 4 cells in B2:B26 contain a value, how can I "read off" which letter have a value beneath it, and store the letter/s in, say, cells B27, B28, B29 and B30?

How to change case of text in Excel?
Use =UPPER() for upper case, =LOWER() for lower case, and =PROPER() for proper case. PROPER won't capitalize second c in Mccartney
If you're happy to have a calculation column, in cell c1 put:

=COUNTIF($B$1:B1,"<>"))

and copy it down

In cell B27 Put INDEX($A$1:$A$26,MATCH(1,$C$1:$C$26,0))

In cell B28 Put INDEX($A$1:$A$26,MATCH(2,$C$1:$C$26,0))

etc
