Is it possible to pull out a column letter rather than the column number? If not is there an easy way to convert the number to the proper letter?

Using a mouse in Excel is the work equivalent of wearing a lanyard when you first get to college
The 2nd argument to the ADDRESS worksheet function is a column number...

=LEFT(ADDRESS(1,1,2)) produces "A"
=LEFT(ADDRESS(1,2,2)) produces "B"
=LEFT(ADDRESS(1,13,2)) produces "M"

Also,
=LEFT(ADDRESS(1,A1,2),1+(A1>26))
will work, where A1 holds the column number of interest.

Ah!! Of course... you can tell that I never create worksheet models with more than 26 columns. :)

Hi,

Here's another option

=SUBSTITUTE(ADDRESS(1,COLUMN(),4),"1","")

IML's reply is shorter, so that would likely be preferable.

There are some UDF's that have been posted, but they will be slower than a native Excel solution.
