Column overlaying in column charts

I am trying to produce a column chart (or preferably a floating bar chart) that shows performance against target, where the target number is the full column and the actual performance is represented as part of that column. I think I need to somehow overlay the actual value column over the target one but I don't know how. I've had a look at previous questions but nothing quite matches what I need - can anyone help please?

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.
I think that my following example may be what you are looking for.

In A1:A3, I entered the performance values 10, 110, 80.
In C1:C3, I entered the target values 60, 160, 100
In B1, I entered =C1-A1, and copied down.

I highlighted the range A1:B3, clicked on the Chart Wizard, chose Column for the Chart type:, then chose the second figure on the first line, under Chart sub-type, then Finish.

My chart now shows columns of the height equal to the target value, each column with two parts, the bottom one is the "Performance" value you want, and the top part is the amount needed to reach the performance desired.

Let us know if this solves your problem.
