Columns in version 2007

I've just upgraded to 2007 and am finding the number of columns is still limited at 256 (IV) rather than the new 16384 columns - fwiw, it was a clean install rather than an overwrite of a previous version of Excel.

I assume I'm missing the page where I can increase the number . . . am I just having a bad morning?

Any guidance warmly received.

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.

That's the case if you open a workbook saved in a previous version in compatibility mode. If you save the workbook as Excel 2007, close and reopen it, you will have more rows and columns.
