And are there any online manuals/websites that describe all of the excel COM functions and methods available?

Ex. functions i'm talking about:
objExcel.Open("C:/excelfile.xls")
objExcel.Close()
objExcel.Quit()

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Look up "Application" in the VBA Help.

Tells you how to set up an instance of Excel, open wkbs - including (or not) auto run macros, etc.
