Hi, new to the site and a beginner at excel. I'm trying to get a cell to choose between two MID formulas based on drop down list.
A2 has a drop down list for Subject A, Subject B.
B2 has a text of 40 characters long.
I need C2 to be =MID(B2,19,12) if Subject A is selected, but C2 also needs to be =MID(B2,18,12) if Subject B is selected.

any info would be great!

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).
hi and welcome to MrExcel
try this in C2

Excel Formula:
=IF(A2 = "Subject A" , MID(B2,19,12),MID(B2,18,12))
