Combine info from two rows...PLUS

I've searched and searched, but can't find this:

I have a list of names in column A, and each has an X in either column B or column C. The problem is that some of the names on my list are duplicates. I want to get rid of the duplicate records but KEEP the info contained in columns B and C. The final product should be a list of unique names with an X in either column A, column B, or both.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance.

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.

Use an advanced filter, with the "copy to another location" and "unique values" options. This gets you your unique list.

Then use a vlookup() on this list to refer to the cols B & C from your original list

Any chance you can walk me through this? I'm not familiar with the vlookup() function, and can't seem to make it work...
