Morning All - Just a quick one. I have 2 cells i need to combine, but i only want part of the information out of one of them. How can I do this within excel?

this is an example

Cell 1 Cell 2 Cell 3 (needs to be:)
Havas 01/12/2013 Havas 01/2013

basically, i need to take the day out of an american date. I have several hundred lines to go through, and this data changes all the time, so doing it manually really doesn't appreal 1st thing on a monday morning! :)

Thanks

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

If cell 2 is actually a date (12 Jan), try this:
=A1&" "&TEXT(B1,"mm/yyyy")

Thanks - I have already tried that, but as it is a US date, and there is no preset mm/yy on the date format options, i am stuck :(

If the second value is text, you could try:
=A1&" "&REPLACE(B1,4,3,"")
