I have the following code frm http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal11.html

The problem with the below code is while entering data in combobox, any data(outside defined list) is allowed where i need to allow only the data from defined list. An error/warning should popup while entering data from out of the dropdown list.

Where do i change the code for this functionality?

Thanks.

Code:

  Cancel As Boolean)
Dim str As String
Dim cboTemp As OLEObject
Dim ws As Worksheet
Dim wsList As Worksheet
Set ws = ActiveSheet
Set wsList = Sheets("ValidationLists")

Cancel = True
Set cboTemp = ws.OLEObjects("TempCombo")
  On Error Resume Next
  With cboTemp
  'clear and hide the combo box
    .ListFillRange = ""
    .LinkedCell = ""
    .Visible = False
  End With
On Error GoTo errHandler
  If Target.Validation.Type = 3 Then
    'if the cell contains a data validation list
    Application.EnableEvents = False
    'get the data validation formula
    str = Target.Validation.Formula1
    str = Right(str, Len(str) - 1)
    With cboTemp
      'show the combobox with the list

      .Left = Target.Left
      .Top = Target.Top

Hi

Select all Data Validation cells and go to Data tab and click Data Validation and select error alert and change style or uncheck alert error

That part was already data. What the above code does is clicking any validation cell brings a combobox with the same dropdownlist as the validation list. In this combo mode if you enter other values than from list, it will not show any warning.
