How do I modify the comma style to allows display no decimals. I can modify the style for that workbook but open a brand new spreadsheet and then Excel defaults back to 2 decimal places. I have tried to save the setting in the normal template but it does not take.

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
try this - tgo to Tools | Options. Select the edit tab. Is 'Fixed decimal' checked?? If so, un-check it.

Assign the format...

_(* #,##0_);_(* (#,##0);_(* "-"_);_(@_)

...to the Normal style, Save as Book.xlt into your XLStart folder.
