In Word is so simply to compare two documents!
In Excel, although I’m trying to compare two WORKBOOKS, there is lot’s of difficulties.

In Excel the option “Compare and Merge Documents” is not highlighted.
So when I go to HELP, I see that:
“Requirements for merging Both workbooks must meet the following requirements:
Be copies of the same workbook, which must have been a shared workbook.
Have different file names.
Either not have passwords, or both have the same password.
Have change tracking in effect continuously from when the copies were made.
Keep change history back at least as far as the date when the copies were made.
For example, if the change history is being kept in the workbooks for 30 days, and the copies were made 45 days ago, you can no longer merge the workbooks.”

So, do I have to fulfill all of this parameters or is there an easier way out?

Thanks in advance

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
J.C.

It really depends on what you are trying to do. When you say "compare", if you mean look at the two documents side by side then you can open the two books, then use WINDOWS>ARRANGE.

You can also put formulae in a third book that will look at the differences between two books.

So I guess you will need to give a better explanation of what you're trying to accomplish before a satisfactory answer can be found.
