Comparing date time valued against input value

Would anyone be kind enough to nudge / point me to where I could find any information on how to -

1. Compare date time values in two columns, say C & D, against start and end date times from an input dialogue window, and
2. Would annotate those dates that are before and after the inputted start and end date times, but not those that fall in between.
