I can install excel!
The user's computer has been changed...several times.
The only user to have this recurring problem.

The user opens three excel 'sheets' and switches betweenn them using the task bar.
This "Compile error: Else without If" appears and does not stop occuring.

Installed sp4 for Win 2000 pro.
Re & re Office suite...no change.
Went to server and opened same files, no error.
Went back to user's machine...same error.

Please, what is creating the error message..the worksheet OR the machine OR the application OR ...as you can see I don't know what questions to ask here for help.
I have gone through the 50 pages of messages but none show a similar error message.
But I know that someone out there can interpret this dilemma.
Thank you in advance for any input.
I do not use or know or understand spreadsheets. I support a network of devices and monitoring and upgrades so this is like 'brain surgery' to me.
Sincerely,
jd

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
There's probably some code attached to the workbook or worksheet.

Press Alt-F11 to open the VBE.
Press Control-R to open the Project Explorer.
Click "Microsoft Excel Objects" for the file you're working on.
Open the Code pane with F7.
Double-click the sheet you're working on, and also "ThisWorkbook" for that file.
If you see any code in there, post it here, so we can see what might be happening.
Press Alt-Q to close the VBE and return to Excel.

Other than someone putting code in that file as a joke, or maybe they forgot to take it out, I don't know what else to suggest. Hope that helps!
